Footage captured by home security cameras may prove vital in piecing together the final moments an unidentified woman and her son were seen alive.
In the video, which can be watched below, a dark Volvo sedan was seen pulling up in front of a property where a male, identified as the son, was retrieving items out of his vehicle.
Before he could react, the man was accosted by two men carrying assault rifles. While he was ushered into the Volvo sedan, a woman, identified by sources as the mother, was hauled out of the blue hatchback, and shoved into the suspects’ vehicle, before it skidded out of frame.
It’s believed the victims were still in captivity when this article was published, with Limpopo police yet to respond to our queries.
Last week, Sonam Gajjar, the wife of a renowned Gqeberha businessman, was kidnapped in a similar fashion.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the incident occurred early on Wednesday morning as Gajjar was leaving her home on Mosel Road.
Fortunately, Gajjar was released to her family unharmed after a R2 million ransom demand was paid.
“Through strategic negotiations and sufficient investigation pressure, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of R5 million which was ultimately reduced to R2 million to ensure the victim’s safety.” Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba said.
