Her family, worried about her whereabouts on that day filed a missing persons case and KZN police left no stone unturned and used every resource available to track down the seven-year-old.
For weeks, speculation was rife about what could have happened to Noxolo. Her family too wanted answers.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the child’s mother surfaced in a dimly lit video, more than three weeks later, to downplay claims her daughter was missing.
In the video, the woman, whose identity remains unknown at this stage, shrugged off the efforts of community groups and local authorities to find the seven-year-old, claiming she was never missing in the first place.
According to the woman, she ran off with Noxolo on that Friday, for reasons she refused to reveal.

Police have yet to issue a statement on this development.
Elsewhere, Saldanha Bay police have continued efforts to find Joslin Smith, who went missing more than a week ago. Her mother, Kelly Smith, left the sickly six-year-old in the care of her boyfriend, Jacquin Appolis, on Monday, 19 February 2024, but when she returned home later that day, her daughter was nowhere to be found.
According to Appolis, he last saw Joshlin at approximately 14:00, an hour earlier than previous statements, playing outside. Appolis claims he grew concerned when 18:00 struck and the six-year-old hadn’t returned home.
At this time, police are mum about the investigation. Neither Appolis nor Kelly have been named persons of interest in Joshlin’s disappearance.
