Ever wondered what it’s like to wake up with a money truck in your garage? This is the level of bewilderment that beset a homeowner in Cape Town, on Thursday morning.
Money truck crashes into garage – What we know
Details surrounding this incident are still very sketchy at this time. However, renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee revealed that this was, in fact, not a parody or a stunt.
We can confirm that this was the result of a cash-in-transit heist gone horribly wrong.
From what we know, the incident occurred on Malmesbury Road, in Welgelegen, a suburb situated on the norths side of Cape Town.
It is not known how many suspects were involved in the money truck heist attempt or if any of them were apprehended. We do, however, know that one security guard has been rushed to the hospital to receive medical treatment after he sustained a gunshot wound in a confrontation with the suspects.
How the cash van ended up in the garage of a Welgelegen home, has not been verified since Cape Town police have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
Abramjee did, however, indicate that the driver of the money truck was forced to swerve off-road and into the residence to avoid the detonation of a bomb.
Apart from the security guard who is in hospital, no other injuries or deaths were reported.
This is video footage taken by a passerby, showing the property that the money truck crashed into.
This is a developing story.
