Mitchell’s Plain police have turned to the public for assistance in tracking down a suspect wanted for rape.
Mitchell’s Plain police are looking for this rape suspect
In a statement, Cape Town police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed the Mitchell’s Plain family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit scored a crucial lead when SAPS’ facial composition expert compiled an identikit of a man believed to be the sexual sadist who, on 8 May 2023, raped a woman in Philippi East.
According to existing evidence, the victim, a 16-year-old teenager, was on her way to school at approximately 07:30 when she was allegedly attacked by the suspect in Lower Crossroads.
Miraculously, the victim survived the ordeal and conjured the strength to report the matter to the police.
Based on her recollection, the alleged attacker could be in his late twenties to early thirties, approximately 1.6m tall and spoke Xhosa.
“He has a tattoo of a cross on his neck below his right ear and was wearing white running shoes and a red cap at the time of the incident. He was also armed with a firearm,” Col. Traut added.
Mitchell’s Plain police have pleaded with the public to contact the family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit with any information on the suspect detailed in the identikit below.
