Gqeberha police have turned to the public for assistance in piecing together the Kwadwesi mass shooting that left four dead, and a male victim nursing life-threatening wounds in hospital.

Late on Sunday, 12 November 2023, Kwadwesi became the scene of a horrific mass shooting. In a statement, police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 21:15, in Sikhundla Street.
A male in his 40s, after being dropped off at his home, was confronted and shot by two assailants, sustaining wounds to his arm and chest. Miraculously, he survived and is currently receiving medical care.
Tragedy deepened with the discovery of four more victims in a nearby shack. These victims, three males and a female aged between 19 and 24 succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities are now in full pursuit of the perpetrators. Gqeberha’s Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is spearheading the investigations, classifying the case as involving four counts of murder and one of attempted murder.
Eastern Cape police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene urged the public to assist authorities in tracking down the suspects involved in the brutal mass shooting.
“Such acts will not be tolerated and is appealing to the community to stand together with police as we relentlessly pursue the suspects. The perpetrators of this appalling crime are still at large and our team of investigators are already on the ground hunting for the suspects. The assistance of the community is crucial in helping us piece together the events that led to this tragedy,” the commissioner said.
