A swift response by local police and Public Order Police led to the arrest of three perpetrators during a business robbery at the Vredenburg Shoprite.

Early on Tuesday, at around 07:30, staff members at the Shoprite in Main Street, Vredenburg, were confronted by five armed robbers, three with firearms and one with a knife.
The robbers threatened the staff, who quickly activated the alarm, prompting a response from a private security company.
Upon the arrival of the security team, shots were exchanged between them and the robbers, although no injuries were reported. The police arrived shortly after, around 07:35, and tactically entered the store.
They successfully apprehended three of the robbers, who were attempting to hide inside the premises. A bag of money and a firearm used by the robbers were recovered at the scene. Two suspects managed to flee.

The front door of the Shoprite store sustained damage during the robbery and ensuing confrontation. The investigation into the robbery continues, with efforts to locate the two suspects who escaped.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court once they are formally charged. Details regarding their charges and court dates will be disclosed as the legal process unfolds.
