A Beverley family fell victim to a brazen house robbery on Thursday and to its horror, a baby was one of the things stolen from the Sandton property.
Beverley Fourways house robbery: Here’s what we know
Beverley is one of four quaint suburbs nestled in the leafy and opulent Fourways, one of Gauteng’s most prized real estate neighbourhoods.
This quiet and secure community was rocked by brazen armed robbers who, according to renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee, targeted an undisclosed property as a prime location to pull of a daylight robbery.
While very few details have surfaced on the story, at this time, it’s believed two or more suspects entered the property and held its occupants at gunpoint.
It is unclear, at this juncture, if any valuables were removed from the Beverley property. However, we can confirm that a four-month old infant was taken by the suspects who left the house without harming any victims.
What’s the latest update with the stolen baby?
Our attempts to get in touch with Fourways police, at the time this article was published, were unsuccessful. However, we were able to reliably learn that authorities quickly rushed to calls of distress from the property and a wide scale search was activated to track down the whereabouts of the baby.
Shortly after the incident, Johannesburg police fortunately tracked down the stolen infant to an undisclosed location in Diepsloot, about 10km away from Beverley.
No further updates have surfaced from the baby’s discovery. However, we can confirm that the baby was found unharmed.

Moreover, it’s reported that two suspects believed to have been involved in the brazen house robbery were placed under arrest.
The identities of the baby, the Beverley family and the suspects in custody have not been made public. The alleged robbers are expected to appear in court soon.
This is a developing story.
