At least four male suspects have been placed under arrest and charged with hijacking after a brazen attempt at taking down a vehicle in Vereeniging.

According to reports, the incident took place at a busy interchange in Sedibeng, a district situated 50km south of Johannesburg.

The incident took place shortly before this article was published. Thus, at this time, details around what exactly happened are still sketchy.
However, we understand that four armed suspects allegedly attempted to hijack a motorist near President Park Stadium.
It’s unclear how the police were alerted but their quick response was very impressive, to say the least. Before the suspects could even make an escape, Sedibeng’s Flying Squad Unit descended on the scene and cornered the alleged hijackers.

The suspects were pinned down and cuffed in front of a large audience of curious onlookers. No further details have emerged from the incident and police are yet to issue a statement on the arrest.
