With the festive season approaching, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has emphasised the importance of safety for freight and public transport operators.
They urged operators to ensure that their drivers are fit for the road and that vehicles are roadworthy. This reminder comes at a crucial time when road traffic is expected to increase significantly.
The RTMC has also advised all motorists to check their vehicles for roadworthiness. This includes renewing vehicle licence discs and repairing defects like cracked windows, worn-out wipers, smooth tyres, and ineffective brakes.
The organisation highlighted that tyre bursts and wet surfaces are significant factors in fatal road collisions, underscoring the need for well-maintained brakes and tyres.
