The public transport service, which carries more than 220 000 commuters per day, explained that “the intimidation and interference with our services over the last few days has made it impossible for the service you rely on to assist you at this time.”

ICYMI – Cape Town Taxi Strike: SAPS Identifies Hotspot Areas Amid Escalating Violence
On Monday evening, Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer confirmed that due to targeted attacks on the company’s fleet, which thus far, has sustained considerable damage to more than 10 units since the start of the taxi strike last week, operations have been reduced to 50%.
“We’re probably running at about 50% and maybe slightly less. So, it’s very limited. Obviously, we would like to run at 100% capacity but we just don’t have that option. So, we will run services for as long as we can with the manpower available to us, but we will ask passengers to, if they are able to, to possibly seek alternative transport. Otherwise, we will do our best to get to everybody,” Dyke-Beyer said.
