Jessica Nkosi, who plays the role of Thando Sebata in The Queen, has confirmed her departure from the telenovela. The show’s July and August 2022 teasers revealed that Rapulana Seiphemo, who plays Hector Sebata, and Nomsa Buthelezi, who portrays Thando’s mother-in-law have also left the show.
The sixth season of the show went out with quite a bang. Thando and Bhambatha’s (Khumbuza Meyiwa) engagement party was a significant event due to Hector (Rapulana Seiphemo) being shot by Harriet’s (Connie Ferguson) hit man.
The new season of The Queen has started on Monday, 25 July 2022. This will be the longest running telenovela’s finale season. M-Net Local Entertainment Channels has announced that The Queen will broadcast its final season in 2023.
The channel said the strategies for Mzansi Magic have been revised to keep up with the audience preferences and the advancement of competitors.
Jessica Nkosi’s farewell message
Jessica, who won a Royalty Soapie Award for her portrayal of Thando Sebata, took to social media to announce her departure from The Queen. In an Instagram post, Nkosi confirmed that she is exiting the show after her character was shot by Cebolihle (Ntobeko Mathebula). Nkosi’s character was killed during a shoot out at an engagement party in the dramatic season six finale.
Jessica took to Instagram to acknowledge how much she loved playing the badass villain persona role. Jessica also thanked the late Shona and Connie Ferguson for trusting her with the Thando role. Nkosi has not yet mentioned her next production, but she has hinted at new opportunities coming her way.
