The 2023 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, after a nail-biting three-month delay due to the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strike, finally lit up the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Wednesday’ outperform at Creative Arts Emmys
While it might not have the same glitz as the main Emmys, this ceremony is a nod to the brilliance behind the scenes – the unsung heroes of TV magic.
Sam Richardson set the tone, snagging the Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for his role in Ted Lasso.
The event was a blend of familiar faces and fresh talent, with shows like We’re Here, Ms Marvel, and Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration clinching juried awards.
Netflix’s Wednesday and HBO’s The Last of Us emerged as big winners, with Wednesday bagging awards for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes, Original Main Title Theme Music, and Production Design, among others.
The Last of Us didn’t lag, winning for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, Prosthetic Makeup, and Sound Editing.
Shows like The White Lotus, Blindspotting, House of the Dragon, and Only Murders in the Building also had their share of the spotlight.
