Rampant gang violence in Manenberg kills man in his sleep
Tragically, Friday’s shooting occurred on the same street where 40-year-old Tasliem Davids was mercilessly gunned down while asleep on Thursday morning.
As reported by Daily Voice, Davids, a father to a 15-year-old girl, faced a tragic end as gang members infiltrated the home he was sleeping in and fired eight bullets into his body.
According to his sister, Farieda, the family was awakened by the dreadful sound of gunshots, followed by frantic calls from neighbours urging them to rush to the horrific scene.
The sight that met them was nothing short of devastating; Davids had been shot five times in the head and three times in the body while in his slumber.
The family, who confirmed that Davids had a history of substance abuse, emphasized that despite his struggles, he was in no way involved in gang activities.
This brutal act has left them in a state of shock and struggling to come to terms with the harsh reality of the violence that continues to engulf the community.
Cape Town police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident and stated that a murder case had been registered for investigation.
The motive behind this ruthless killing forms a crucial part of an ongoing investigation.
