Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has announced a significant development in the ongoing situation involving the private military company Wagner led by Yevgeny Prigozhin.

According to a statement released by the press service of the President of Belarus, Lukashenko was informed by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the events unfolding in the south of Russia regarding Wagner.
Following their discussion, both leaders have agreed to take action to prevent a violent escalation within Russian territory.
In a joint effort to avoid bloodshed, Lukashenko proposed to Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, that the movement of armed individuals associated with Wagner be halted and tensions de-escalated.
Prigozhin, known for his influential role within the group, accepted Lukashenko’s proposal, marking a significant breakthrough in the situation.
President Lukashenko conducted two meetings with the country’s power bloc to address the matter at hand and find a resolution to the escalating conflict involving Wagner.

This morning, President of Russia Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart about the situation in the south of Russia with the private commercial company Wagner. The heads of state agreed to participate in the actions. As a result, they came to an agreement on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company on the territory of Russia and to de-escalate the tension. The President of Belarus held two meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation.
These recent developments unfolded in the aftermath of Russian President Putin accusing Prigozhin of attempting an armed mutiny.
The conflict between rival Kremlin factions over the war in Ukraine has intensified, leading to this open confrontation. Putin referred to the situation as an act of “treachery” and voiced his concerns over the internal strife.
