Revered raidocaster Pabi Moloi has a multimillion-rand estate to protect from her former lover Ruan Adams, who is adamant that the couple has been married under Customary Law for six years.
Pabi Moloi divorce case: Here’s what we know
Per Sunday World, Moloi is in for quite the tumultuous legal battle after Adams sent his lawyers, SL Attorneys, to inform the TV and radio veteran of his intention to dissolve their marriage.
From what we understand, Moloi received a letter from Adams’ lawyers confirming their client’s decision to end their ‘marriage’ “because they no longer love each other.”
Moloi’s former partner has since requested full disclosure of all the properties and other assets owned by the broadcaster as the first step to finalising the 50% share of her estate.
According to Moloi, however, she was never married to Adams in the first place.
“There was no marriage,” Moloi plainly stated when probed for comment by the cited publication.
Here’s why Ruin Adams wants half of the estate
Adams, however, vehemently disagrees. In fact, Moloi’s now-former partner insists he has proof of a R25 000 payment towards lobola he allegedly made in April 2016.
He further claims to be in possession of wedding pictures and insists on that day, traditional wedding blankets were exchanged, traditional beer was brewed and it was such a jolly occasion, Moloi’s grandmother apparently gave an impassioned speech before formally recognising the broadcaster as Adams’ wife.
Not much information is available on Adams but, according to reports, he and Moloi may be parents to a boy. Therefore, in their supposed divorce, Adams has reportedly asked for a 50% share of Moloi’s estate which includes:
- a house in Broadacres, Fourways;
- a house in Noordwyk, Midrand;
- a house in Elton Hill and in Edenburg in Sandton; and
- and two houses in Waverley.
It’s believed Moloi also owns a white Jeep Cherokee and a grey Suzuki, among a longer list of investments and savings accounts.
When the matter is finally registered on a court’s roll, it’s believed Adams will also seek R8 500 per month in spousal maintenance.
Moloi’s lawyers, however, have rubbished Adams’ assertions and, in a response letter to SL Attorneys, denied that the broadcaster “was ever married to your client.”
“As such, our client denies that any joint estate exists between herself and your client. In light of the above, our client is under no obligation to furnish your client, nor is your client entitled to demand, the financial documentation requested,” Moloi’s attorneys wrote.
At this time, no court date has been confirmed by either party.
