World-renowned DJ Black Coffee has had to come forth and issue a statement on the recent spat on social media involving his two former employees.
A woman known on social media as ‘Boniswa’ published an open letter on Twitter, accusing Black Coffee of failing to use his brotherly influence to correct the alleged despicable acts of a former employee named Amaru Da Costa.
Boniswa’s open letter: Black Coffee could’ve have done better
In the letter, Boniswa charged at the Soulistic Music founder for dragging his feet in instituting disciplinary actions against Da Costa when, in 2015, she had flagged his inappropriate behaviour to him.
She also placed the blame on the DJ for turning a blind eye to a culture of emotional abuse that was being nurtured by Da Costa at Soulistic Music.
To get a better understanding of Busiswa’s accusations, it’s best to read the entire open letter in her voice:
Black Coffee responds: ‘I believe Boniswa, Amaru must account’
Following the uproar that came after the open letter went viral, Black Coffee was forced to publish a series of tweets where he explained his position in the whole debacle.
He admitted that Boniswa left his employ in 2015 after she had filed numerous complaints about Da Costa. However, in Coffee’s recollection, her resignation was tendered on the grounds that the accused was “narcissistic, emotionally abusive and difficult to work with.”
The DJ added that from then onwards, his relationship with Da Costa deteriorated until 2018 when it all came to a head and a legal dispute forced the accused to terminate his contract with Soulistic Music.
Coffee, in his tweets, insisted that this has not discouraged his belief in her claims that she was sexually assaulted by Da Costa.
No word has been received by Da Costa on what his side of the story is.
