We always misplace stuff, especially phones, and it is often really frustrating. You might or might not have known but you can locate your Android device through Google‘s Find My Device. The app allows you to locate and ring your phone.
How to find your Android phone
You can either type “Find My Device” right on the Google search bar or you can download the app on the Play Store. From there you may commence and easily find your phone.
You might be asked to sign in first and Google will show you all your Android devices — which you have recently signed into. Then you may choose which device you want Google to locate.
After your phone has been located, you may choose the option to ring it. It will ring for five minutes, whether it is on silent or not. And to stop the sound you just have to press the power button on the phone.
What if you can’t find your device?
If you can’t reach your device, you can still secure it, to make sure no one has access to it. You can set a new password through the Find My Device app. You can secure your Android device whether you had a screen lock or not.
You also have to ensure that you set a password that you will remember because once you’ve created the password you won’t be able to change it. This is to ensure that no one else unlocks your phone besides you.
If you can’t reach your device, you can also erase all the data on it. The data will be permanently erased and you won’t be able to trace or locate your phone again at this point. And if it is offline, erasing the data will only commence once the phone is online again. So, you might have to sign in to your Google account.
