South Africa’s version of the 2022 Spotify Wrapped charts shows that K.O., more than 17 years into his music career, still bosses as the industry’s top-performing artist.
2022 Spotify Wrapped: Here is a look at this year’s top charts
Trends from this year proved that, once again, Amapiano remains a dominant genre in music streaming in South Africa.
Kabza De Small went toe-to-toe with international heavyweights like Drake and The Weeknd as one of the most streamed artists in South Africa. K.O.’s SETE, on the other hand, collected more streams than Harry Styles’ As It Was and Burna Boy‘s global smash hit single Last Last.
Traces of South African Hip-Hop, an all-but-dead genre at this juncture, were trickled across various charts, which you can see below, thanks to the efforts of Blxckie, Nasty C, A-Reece and Big Zulu.
Master KG‘s global smash hit Jerusalema, which, by the way, dropped in November 2019, was still the top exported track in 2022. South African rock band Seether, on the other hand, was this year’s top exported artist.
