Priddy Ugly is the subject of debate in many Hip-Hop circles on Wednesday after the ‘Pitoli’ rapper dropped off his much-anticipated SOIL album.
If the true essence of ‘boom-baptism’ is what you’ve been missing in rap music then Ugly’s 10-track masterpiece is everything a true fan of the genre seeks.
Priddy Ugly ignites beef with A-Reece
For the most part, Ugly’s lyricism on jazzy instrumentals handled by composers Andile Sean and Sebastion Khumalo, nudges on the third-eye. The project sounds like a manifesto compiled for the awakening of the lost.
This is the mood for most of the album but things get intense towards the end. Ugly, truly intent on carving his face on SA Hip-Hop’s Mount Rushmore, ramps up the ante and goes for the heads of the genre’s A-listers.
On Handful of Dust, the Pretoria rapper throws a mean subliminal jab at A-Reece with a ‘Hibachi’ reference, and goes on to diss his peers who “rap like Cole, do drugs like Thugg or sound like Drake.”
While these are not direct shots at Reece, many would easily draw up the assumption since the fellow Pretoria rapper recently released a song titled Hibachi.
