City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) reported that firefighter crews responded swiftly to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the building completely ablaze. Fortunately, all occupants, including customers, managed to evacuate safely. No injuries have been reported so far.
EMS spokesperson Nana Radebe confirmed that there are currently no reports of people missing, but search and rescue operations are underway to ensure everyone was safely evacuated.
“We have managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building,” Radebe said.
Fire Safety officials will conduct preliminary investigations once the fire is fully extinguished to determine the cause of the blaze.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with videos circulating on social media showing the extent of the fire and the efforts of the emergency services.
