Longwe is accused of stealing studio equipment from his father’s home in Fourways, Johannesburg, a claim made by Chicco Twala himself.

The equipment is said to be valued at over R400,000.

Last week, the case was postponed to allow investigators to confirm Longwe’s residential address and his legal aid representation.

This session will likely address these procedural matters before further evidence is presented.

Chicco Twala had previously opened a case against both his sons, Sello and Longwe, but charges against Sello were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

The case has drawn public interest, not just for the theft allegations but also due to Longwe’s name being linked to the controversial Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Chicco Twala has vehemently defended his son against these allegations, stating that while Longwe has struggled with drug addiction, he would never be involved in murder.

“He has never carried a gun in his entire life. The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa case, especially the ones who are accusing him of shooting, they are just psychopaths. They are mad,” he said at the time.
