A man in his early 30s was rushed to a nearby medical facility after he fell from the top floor of Menlyn Mall, but, unfortunately, little could be done to save his life.
What happened at Menlyn Mall?
As reported by Pretoria Rekord, shoppers and retail workers at Cavendish Court were left in utter dismay when an unidentified man plummeted from the mall’s third floor.
The male victim, aged 31, clung to life and was barely able to breathe when paramedics loaded him on a stretcher and rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he did not survive.
This image, taken shortly after the man plummeted at approximately 08:00, shows the moment emergency medical officials cordoned off the scene with red tape and covered the victim with a black sheet. It was pretty clear from the pools of blood around his body that the man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

It remains unclear, at this time, whether the fatal fall was a freak accident or yet another shopping mall suicide.
Menlyn Mall centre management head Nisha Kemraj confirmed in a statement that “an official investigation is underway, and we are fully cooperating with authorities.”
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello corroborated the reports and revealed an inquest docket has been opened, with investigators already combing through information to determine the cause of the tragedy.
Further, according to statements made by eyewitnesses who were at the scene, it’s believed the man was unaccompanied when he fell to his death.
From what we understand, mall CCTV footage could be the first place investigators go to review the deathly fall.
Kemrraj confirmed the man’s family has been contacted and informed of the tragedy. Menlyn Mall will offer the family assistance in dealing with the loss. The same courtesy has been offered to mall employees.
“Access to the affected areas is currently being limited,” the mall noted.
This is a developing story.
