Pretoria investigators have been whirled into a vicious and senseless murder that took place at a farm in Mooiplaats, Boschkop, in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
First to report the news was renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee. His tweet held very little information but confirmed the incident to be, indeed, true:
Boschkop farm murder: Here’s what we know
At this time, neither the police nor the media in Pretoria have provided us with details surrounding the murder. However, according to SouthAfricaToday.net, the crime allegedly took place at approximately 01:30 on Thursday morning.
Unverified reports of the incident suggest that at least two armed men were caught by the farmer, trying to break past the property’s security gate.
It’s believed that the Boschkop farmer quickly took out his phone and called a neighbour who is a police officer.
However, by that time, it’s alleged that the robbers had made it past the security gate and there was very little else he could do to protect his wife and two children.
Without warning, it’s believed the suspects fired gunshots towards the suspect and wounded him fatally. With very little time to react to the seemingly random and unplanned murder, it’s believed the suspects managed to grab two smartphones from the lifeless body of the victim and fled before police arrived at the farm.
Fortunately, the wife and children survived the ordeal unharmed, thanks, in part, to the sacrifice made by the farmer in confronting the danger head-on and alerting authorities.
At this time, no suspects have been arrested for the senseless crime. No statements were released by the police at the time of publishing this article.
This is a developing story.
