At approximately 15:00 on Friday, the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a bus fire near the Cape Town train station.

Crews from Roeland Street, Brooklyn, and Salt River fire stations were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
City of Cape Town spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Service Jermaine Carelse confirmed that no injuries had been reported as a result of the incident.
The fire, which occurred in the long-distance bus station, caused significant disruption as emergency services worked to control the situation.
The bus was fully engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived.
Eyewitnesses captured footage of the fire, which quickly spread on social media.
It’s unclear, at this time, which bus service was involved in the incident, nor has the cause of the fire been established. When this article was published, authorities had cordoned off the area with efforts to contain the fire increased.
Access to the taxi rank on the deck as well as the train station has not been affected.
