Quick and decisive action by vigilant police officers thwarted a potentially dangerous business robbery in Beverley Park, Eersterivier, leading to the confiscation of a 9mm pistol with ammunition and the apprehension of suspects.
Police lauded for foiling Beverley Park business robbery
In a statement, Cape Town police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi revealed the incident unfolded on Thursday, 28 September 2023, when members of the Kleinvlei Police were stationed at a location in Beverley Park.
They were alerted by concerned community members about an ongoing business robbery nearby.

Responding swiftly to the call, the officers proceeded towards the reported scene, where they encountered unidentified individuals attempting to flee on foot.
During the ensuing pursuit, one of the suspects brandished a firearm at the pursuing officers.
In response, one of the police members drew his own firearm and, in the course of the confrontation, the suspect sustained fatal injuries.
The officers persevered with their pursuit, successfully apprehending and detaining two additional suspects.
In the process, they also seized a 9mm pistol along with its accompanying ammunition.

The detained suspects are now slated to face charges in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court.
These charges encompass possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, brandishing a firearm, business robbery, and attempted murder.
It remains unclear, at this juncture, if the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will be probing the incident.
