Miss South Africa enthusiasts are in for a treat as the highly anticipated reality series, Crown Chasers, offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the selection process for the prestigious pageant’s winner.
What to expect from Miss South Africa’s ‘Crown Chasers’ TV show
Not only will viewers get to witness the nail-biting live crowning event, but the finale will also mark a significant moment for S3 (formerly SABC3), as it broadcasts the pageant’s culmination for the first time since Heather Hamilton’s victory in 1999.
Scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13 August 2023, at the magnificent SunBet Arena in Pretoria’s Time Square, the Miss South Africa finale promises to be a memorable occasion.
But before the grand crowning moment, fans of the pageant and S3 viewers can tune in to Crown Chasers, hosted by finalist mentor Zozibini Tunzi.
The reality series comprises five episodes, unveiling the captivating journey of aspiring contestants as they undertake various challenges and tasks, and receive mentorship from a distinguished panel of judges.
The esteemed judging panel for Crown Chasers includes the renowned Bonang Matheba, Leandie du Randt, and a weekly celebrity guest judge.
Notably, former Miss South Africa titleholders Dr Tamaryn Green Nxumalo (2018), Vanessa Carreira Coutroulis (2001), and Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala (2010) will serve as guest judges, alongside acclaimed fashion designers Gert Johan Coetzee and Khosi Nkosi, as well as the accomplished businesswoman Koo Govender.

Expressing her excitement, Miss South Africa organisation CEO Stephanie Weil remarked,
“We are thrilled to return to SABC3, not only for the final pageant event but also with the groundbreaking Crown Chasers series. We promised to shake things up, introduce new dynamics, and elevate the Miss South Africa competition to new heights, and I believe we have achieved just that!”
Recently, the Miss South Africa organisation announced a change in the airing schedule for Crown Chasers, with the reality TV series now set to premiere on Sundays starting from 9 July 2023 at 16:00.
