On Wednesday, the grieving family of the late Thulani Thuswa and a close-knit group of his friends will honour the renowned sports PR maestro at a memorial service that will be streamed live.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration of Thuswa’s life will be limited to a maximum of 100 people at the Nasrec Memorial Park, in Johannesburg.
However, fans he’d garnered from his work in the sports industry and distant friends can tune into the service virtually. The memorial is scheduled to start at 14:00 and you can watch it live below:
Thuswa’s cause of death revealed
The news of Thuswa’s passing first broke out on social media, on Sunday 6 June 2021. In a statement, his family described the former Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson as “a kind person and always ready to share that unforgettable smile of his.”
While his cause of death was not revealed in the statement, Johannesburg Metro police confirmed that Thuswa lost his life in a car accident that took place on the M1 north highway, in the wee hours of Sunday.
“We know that many people were touched by the kind of person Thulani was and have expressed their hurt and shock,” the family wrote.
Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane was of many close friends who paid tribute to Thuswa.

Thuswa was building his very own sports PR company at the time of his untimely death.
