Monday afternoon was a nightmare for motorists on the N3 highway in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), where a tanker crash resulted in the death of seven victims.
KZN tanker crash: What caused it?
The scenes witnessed by rescue officials at the site of the crash will haunt them for a very long time. As reported by Times Live, seven wasted bodies were recovered from the smouldering remains of the multi-vehicle crash that halted high-peak traffic in both directions.
From eyewitnesses who watched the horrific incident, it’s said that a tanker collided with a bus after 15:00, resulting in a snowballed multi-vehicle collision where at least 20 victims were injured.
By Tuesday, fire and rescue officials had managed to contain the blaze and clear the N3 highway. At the time this article was published, no unusual congestion was reported on the busy KZN interchange.
