Woman’s dead body found at Sea Point beach
In a statement, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was called to the Atlantic Seaboard surf on Sunday, where the body of an unidentified female was found.
Police divers and lifeguards, working in tandem with other emergency units, managed to secure the body from the surf near the Sea Point Swimming Pool and the area was cordoned off for further investigation.
At this time, it is unclear how the woman’s body ended up on the shores of Sea Point Beach. What’s even more frustrating for authorities is, no personal items were found near her body.
“It remains unknown the circumstances surrounding this incident,” NSRI Table Bay station commander Marc de Vos said in a statement.
What was she wearing?
For now, she has been tagged as a Jane Doe and police need the public’s help in spreading the word about this grizzly discovery, hoping that certain details will prompt someone to come forward.
“Anyone with information that can assist the police to identify the body is requested to contact Warrant Officer Olivier on 082 759 0079, or Sea Point police on 021 430 3700,” Western Cape police pleaded.
Jane Doe will be processed by the forensics department and held at a state mortuary until she is identified. She is believed to be in her 30s and was wearing a pink bikini bra and black tights when she was found.
