AKA has updated his business portfolio to include ‘part-owner of a nightclub’ to his resume. The Mega took to social media on Wednesday to announce that he has a majority stake in Cuba BLK, a new lounge that is opening at the Moses Mabhida Stadium complex on Saturday.

AKA adds nightclub to his business portfolio
AKA has been actively paving other income streams this year. It started with his venture into his own content platform, AKA TV, which included a daily talk show, the Braai Show, that featured guest appearances from friends like Moozlie to Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula.
Speaking to Tshisa Live, AKA revealed that the nationwide Covid-19-influenced lockdown was the perfect time for him to realign his interests and reinvent himself as a businessman.
“Besides finding myself labouring in the kitchen for my meals, lockdown for me personally was a period for me to think and re-think, plan and implement changes in my approach to how I maximise on the time I have at the peak and top my over ten-year career in the entertainment industry,” he wrote.
A virtual tour inside Cuba BLK
Cuba BLK is perfectly situated as the only nightclub and restaurant located near the Moses Mabhida Stadium, a football cathedral that draws thousands of Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana fans.
During the day, the single-floored establishment functions as a restaurant with more than 20 seating options available to customers.
The venue comes to life at night, when the UV lighting is turned on to accentuate the velvet and suede finishes of the VIP area and the white cove bar that will most probably stock the lot of Cruz Vodka’s flavour.
Quirky LED displays border the corner DJ booth that will host the nation’s best talents.
Without a stage, it’s hard to imagine where AKA will perform at the launch. Perhaps, this is all part of the mystique. We will have to wait and see, won’t we?
The Casino rapper is all about cashing in and Cuba BLK is just another avenue for him to achieve a higher income bracket.
“That’s why I initiated the AKA App and the Braai Show. Through these initiatives, I thought deeper and looked around for more ways to cash in – and one of those is acquiring a big stake of Cuba Lounge, to bring you Cuba BLK, in Durban,” he said.
Cuba BLK launches on Saturday and no information on entry fees has been released. It seems, for now, guests have to contact the number found on the flyer to reserve tables.
