Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo is feeling the pressures of celebriton after it was confirmed that he will join the popular E-tv soapie Rhythm City.
Mohale joins Rhythm City: Here’s what we know
According to reports from renowned microblogger Kgopolo Mphela, Mohale has been recruited to play the role of high-flying Kudzo, a flashy, fly-by-night corporate investor.
At this time, it is not known what plans lie ahead in the show’s script for Mohale but the mere mention of his name in association with an acting role on Rhythm City has created a lot of buzz on social media.
Mzansi divided about Mohale’s new acting gig
This role will be Mohale’s debut on-screen in an acting capacity. While this has been applauded as a massive achievement, some folks could not help but take note of the fishy smell that permeates from this recruitment.
Sure, the 26-year-old is currently completing a tertiary qualification in acting but some people felt that he got the role on Rhythm City purely from his marital association with Somizi Mhlongo, a powerhouse public figure in Mzansi’s entertainment scene.
Here are some of the reactions we picked out from social media
Mphela, a notable voice in everything to do with South African TV, admitted that “Mohale being married to Somizi [Mhlongo] benefits his career ambitions.”
“But, to be fair, the same can be said for a lot of people in this industry. Connections play a huge role in this industry. That’s just a fact,” he tweeted.
Mohale ignores the critics in his response
The person who has divided social media could care less about what the naysayers were chirping on about. Instead, Mohale uploaded a screenshot of Mphela’s announcement onto his Instagram Story and captioned it with, “in other news, to the top we go!”
At this time, it is not known when Mohale’s debut on-screen appearance will be.
