The Nike Air Max 95 ‘Alien’ XLD has blown sneakerheads and loyalists of the brand away with its adaptation of extraterrestrial life.
Air Max 95 Alien: First look off the shelf
The reinvention of Sergio Lozano’s classic Air Max 95 is out of this world. Featured on Hypebeast as a blazing new entrant in this year’s collection, the Air Max 95 borrows from the colour spectrum of everything we imagine an alien to be.
The sneaker’s design departs upward, a nod to human anatomy, with white EVA foam midsoles punched with the iconic Air Max units, orange on the heel and blue on the forefoot.
The body of the sneaker is what really complements its aesthetic. Black nubuck begins to enclose the sneaker, when a splash of pastel orange, metallic silver and teal, creams over the sneaker’s the side panels and toebox.
In all of its glory, the reimagined classic range stands on its own platform.
How much will it cost to own a pair?
The sneaker officially dropped on Oneness on Wednesday with an asking price of R3 281 ($180) excluding shipping. We checked in with Shelflife and from what is displayed on their online store, it does not appear that it is available in South Africa.
What do the streets say about the new sneaker?
In sneaker culture, it is less about what the runway experts think. It is the streets that determine the shoe’s resale value and that is what matters — that’s the fashion.
So, we turned to the streets to see what sneakerheads had to say about the the range.
