Drake just dropped a bombshell on us with Scary Hours 3, a spontaneous project he whipped up in just five days following his latest album release.
Drake unleashes ‘Scary Hours 3’ in surprise five-day recording blitz
So, Drake’s back at it again, and this time, he’s gone full Bogart on us.
With a glass of pinot in hand, he announced Scary Hours 3 on Instagram, saying it’s like the storm before the calm. This was all done in a swift, five-day recording session, just after dropping his last project, For All the Dogs.
This isn’t just any Drake release; it’s packed with action. You’ve got everything from a sly nod to Kanye in Red Button to Drake taking a hard look at his past romantic escapades in The Shoe Fits.
And let’s not forget the second J. Cole feature in Evil Ways and the breakup anthem You Broke My Heart that feels like it should be blasted at a graduation party.
Drake’s feeling pretty confident about Scary Hours 3. He’s like, “I don’t need to please anyone.” He compares the creative rush to his If You’re Reading This days, saying he feels like he’s on drugs but without actually taking any.
The craziest part? None of these tracks were pre-planned. He started from scratch the night For All the Dogs dropped.
“I feel no need to appease anybody. I feel so confident about the body of work that I just dropped, I know I could go disappear for, whatever, six months, a year, two years—even though I’m not really into the super lengthy disappearances for the sake of mystery. But, you know, ultimately, it’s coming to me in a way that I haven’t experienced maybe since, like, If ‘You’re Reading This [It’s Too Late], where I feel like I’m on drugs.
“I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. I did those songs in the last five days. I didn’t have one bar written down for those songs on the night that For All the Dogs dropped. It’s not like I’m picking up from some unfinished shit. You know, this is just happening on its own. And who am I to fight it?” he said a trailer release.
Drake’s Scary Hours 3 is conveniently packaged as a special edition of For All The Dogs, and is available to stream and download on Apple Music and Spotify.
