The country has taken on the responsibility of showering humiliated petrol attendant Wiseman with love and as many R210 bank transfers as possible.
This is just one part of the reason why South Africa, given the right circumstances, can be the unified rainbow nation former president Nelson Mandela dreamed of.
Who is Wiseman?
Siphamandla Wiseman Ndabezitha is a BP petrol attendant. It is not clear, at this time, where he is from, but after the video showing how a motorist left him humiliated, a concerted effort was made to track him down.
You see, Wiseman was doing his job, filling up a vehicle with fuel to the tune of R210. He did this after he explicitly heard the motorist ask for fuel worth “two-ten”.
Colloquially, this refers to R210. However, it didn’t matter because the motorist was pulling a fast one on Wiseman. When the petrol attendant went to the driver’s window to collect the sum of the fuel used, he was handed two R10 notes.
Bewildered, Wiseman could not understand what was going on. That’s when the motorist dropped the punchline and accused the petrol attendant of failing to comprehend what he meant when he asked for fuel worth “two-ten”.
Watch the video below and see how this scam left Wiseman completely winded and embarrassed.
Mzansi sends petrol attendant heaps of cash
Turns out, Wiseman’s employer sided with him in the scam. From what we understand, the R200 deficit in the fuel total was covered by the petrol station and Wiseman was not held liable for any wrongdoing.
The video did not sit well with many. So, in true South African spirit, the petrol attendant was tracked down by agents of social media and his bank details were posted for people to gift him with R210 in bank transfers.
We have lost track of count on how much Wiseman has received thus far but more people are posting screenshots of their proof of payment.
