Renowned social media personality Thabile Mshibe may have been the victim of gender-based violence and fortunately, she lived to tell the story.
Thabile Mshibe escapes alleged assaulter
Video footage showing Mshibe in distress surfaced on social media, in the late hours of Sunday. The influencer had bruises above her right eye and the distress tones in her voice raised alarms to viewers who were tuned into her Instagram Live.
Mshibe told fans that she was trapped inside an apartment in Lonehill, Johannesburg, and a man, who was seen watching TV with his arms folded, had refused to let her leave.
Mshibe accused the unidentified man of the assault, and claimed that the police were only going to get there and accept hush money since the alleged abuser was well off.

Here’s an update on Mshibe
Hours after the IG Live video ended abruptly, Mshibe resurfaced on social media to inform her followers that she had made it out of the apartment in one piece.
“Thank you for your support, I’m at the police station,” she wrote at approximately 03:00.”
According to Mshibe, she had sustained injuries above her right eye, which at the time of the recording she posted two hours after the police station visit, was still bleeding. The influencer also broke a nail and sustained an injury to her left elbow.
At this time, no updates have surfaced on the whereabouts of the man responsible for the alleged assault.
