The meltdown Luc Eymael had on Saturday will certainly put an end to his career as a football coach in Africa.
Luc Eymael booted out of Tanzania
As reported by Times Live, the Belgian coach’s contract with Tanzania Premier League side Yanga Africans has been terminated with immediate effect after he went on a bigotrous rant, calling the club’s supporters ‘illiterate monkeys’.
It is not clear what prompted Eymael to go off the rails in blinded rage but this is what he was quoted as saying:
“I don’t enjoy your country (Tanzania). You’re uneducated people. I am disgusted. I don’t have a car, WiFi or DSTV. These fans don’t know anything about soccer ball. It’s like monkeys or dogs when they’re shouting.”

Yanga Africans apologise for bringing a bigot into Tanzania
Following this, Yanga Africans released a statement, confirming the immediate axing of Eymael. The club also apologised unreservedly for bringing a bigot to the Tanzania Premier League.
“Due to these racist statements‚ the Yanga Club leadership has decided to fire coach Luc Eymael from today (27 July 2020) and ensure he leaves the country as soon as possible.
“Yanga leadership apologises to the country’s leaders‚ the leadership of the Tanzania Football Federation‚ Lions Club leaders‚ members‚ fans and fans of Yanga‚ as well as the general public for the offensive and insulting statements made by the coach Luc Eymael,” the club’s statement read.
Luc Eymael: This could explain why he never got along with Khompela
No official word has been received from Eymael as yet but it’s reported that he regrets his comments.
Eymael did not particularly get along with Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Steve Khompela during his coaching stint in South Africa. The controversial manager led Leopards‚ Free State Stars and Polokwane City in South Africa.
