Manchester City starboy Phil Foden and his mother, Claire, found themselves on the receiving end of pummels at the Amir Khan vs Kell Brook boxing match that took place at the AO Arena, on Saturday evening.
Phil Foden and mom get caught in nightclub brawl
At this time, no context accompanies the video footage that leaked on social media.
From what we can see from the video clip, it appears Foden may have been the victim of fan hecklers. Man City’s attacking winger was rushed into the “Gallery 33” skybox by his security team after a group of men ran up from behind him, clearly taunting the 21-year-old.
Foden managed to evade the hecklers and made it into the room, but his mother rushed out to confront the group of men. Things turned violent when Claire shoved one of the men, who, in response, swung a fist at the 41-year-old woman, striking her in the face.
A scuffle ensued, and somewhere in the footage, Foden was seen trying to defend his mother who, by then, was bobbing and weaving between punches.
The entire ordeal was caught on camera, and you can watch it below:
This is not the first fisticuffs Foden and his mom have been embroiled in.
In May 2021, Daily Mail reported on a street fight involving Claire and her son that took place outside a house in Stockport, Greater Manchester, where the 41-year-old viciously attacked a woman over a dispute about a cigarette.
The woman, Katie Skitt, was left with bite marks and a black eye.
Foden was part of Pep Guardiola’s starting XI that lost to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday’s Premier League fixture. Spurs talisman Harry Kane led his side to a gob-smacking 2-3 away victory, that places Man City only six points ahead of Liverpool at the summit of the table.
The Merseyside Reds have a game in hand, and could shorten the gap to 3 points if they win against Leeds United on Wednesday 23 February 2022.
Neither Man City nor Foden’s team has released a statement about the AO Arena brawl.
