Residents from Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), are probably still sobering up from the bizarre truck accident they witnessed on Monday evening.
Hell broke loose in Pinetown: What we know
The video was uploaded by a Twitter user who was also an eyewitness to the strange incident. The video started with shrieking panic. A 14-wheeler truck was seen pummeling through a tow bakkie that was carrying a totalled Volkswagen vehicle.
The traffic stop in Pinetown was closed off to try and minimise the impending damage but even law enforcement officials could do nothing to stop the heavy-duty commercial truck from charging ahead and pummeling any obstacle placed in front of it.
Where was the truck driver?
The massive 14-wheeler piled through the tow truck, putting an end to any hopes of reviving the Volkswagen it was carrying. It smashed past a police vehicle and headed straight into the yard of a nearby home.
Fortunately, the residents of the household will only have to worry about landscaping and refurbishing the lawn since the heavy-duty truck stopped only centimeters from crashing into the house.
Onlookers could be heard screaming, “where is the truck driver?”. If you watch carefully, you will see that he was, for some reason, outside of the truck when it charged ahead and crashed into the towed vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this bizarre incident. Now, for law enforcement officials, the objective is to piece together the moments that led up to this costly crash to determine culpability.
