On a day that saw the world tremble at the mere occurrence of an internet shutdown, what’s the worst that could happen? Well, video footage has surfaced on social media showing French President Emmanuel Macron getting slapped in the face.

As reported by BBC News, President Macron was on a visit in the south-eastern department of Drôme, on Tuesday. As he’s done countless times before, the 43-year-old took the time to approach a fenced section of the areas he was in, where a small crowd was eagerly waiting to greet the president of France.
However, the last thing Macron, or his tight security detail, expected was to be slapped in the face by an unknown man who shook his hand.
The man was immediately swarmed by Macron’s security after he’d landed his smacker. The president was quickly rushed to safety and according to the cited publication, two men have been since been placed under arrest.
