Watch: Dr Nandipha questioned about abandoning R1.3m car in Zimbabwe
The Citizen obtained video footage showing the deregistered doctor at the centre of an intense interrogation over her bizarre decision to abandon a luxury car near the Zimbabwean border, despite owing the unnamed dealer more than R600 million.
According to reports, Magudumana purchased the luxury car worth R1.35 million in 2022, which she later drove across the Zimbabwean border and abandoned there.
The bizarre border crossing has led observers to speculate that it may have been part of a possible border escape plan for her fugitive lover Thabo Bester.
Bester, a convicted murderer, rapist and fraudster, escaped from Mangaung Prison in Bloemfontein in May 2022.
In March 2023, it was revealed that he and his partner, Dr Nandipha, were living in an R12-million mansion in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, before fleeing the house on 20 March 2023, allegedly with the doctor’s two children in tow.
It is believed that the couple had been paying R60 000 a month in rent before they fell behind with their payments.
Take a look at Dr Nandipha’s bizarre behaviour in the leaked interrogation:
A maid buried in the abandoned Hyde Park mansion?
Police have since launched a forensic investigation at the property.
As reported by Sunday World, the search operation was carried out after it was alleged that the body of a domestic worker was buried in the couple’s multi-million Hyde Park rental.
Police sources stated that they embarked on the search after it emerged that the maid had disappeared and her last location was at the couple’s house, which they fled a few weeks ago.
From what we understand, police used sniffer dogs and a forensic team swabbed the property for DNA traces.
The search operation is ongoing, and the police have urged the media to give detectives space to do their work, as the investigation is sensitive. The police have also stated that they will not provide a blow-by-blow update on the progress of investigations
The couple is suspected of various scams, including one involving a bogus construction company through which they allegedly fleeced several people with millions of rands.
As of the last available reports, police were still searching for the couple.
