We’re glad to report no one was hurt. However. one thing is clear, this Cape Town motorist has been left with a hefty insurance bill that will hurt their wallets.
Watch: Cape Town motorist crashes into restaurant
Sure, they can probably afford to foot the bill but that is no consolation from the fact that the crash was totally unnecessary.
A video shared by renowned microblogger @crimeairnetwork showed how a white custom-made Jaguar F-Type Coupe crashed into the patio of a restaurant.
It is not clear when the incident took place. However, we know that it happened at Botanicum Cafe & Grill, a popular upmarket restaurant situated in the affluent Constantia.
How much damage will this leave in their wallet?
The video leaves very little clues about how the Cape Town motorist ended up with the hood of her mounted on the restaurant’s patio garden.
If we had to take a guess, we’d say the motorist may have misplaced the gear while starting the car and thus, it jolted forward and they lost control of it.
Fortunately, the cyclist seen checking himself for injuries was unscathed. The only thing the motorist has to worry about is replacing Botanicum’s patio and dealing with the insurance liability she will suffer from the exterior damage to the luxury vehicle.
Of course, there is no way to determine the insurance debt that hangs over the motorist’s head. However, a look at the average insurance premiums for F-Type owners — a car that retails for more than R2.5 million — suggests that they will most probably fork out a five-figure penalty and see a notable increase in their monthly instalments.
