Congratulations are in order for Thembi the TikTok housekeeper whose fiery relationship with her boss keeps Mzansi in stitches.
Thembi breaks the internet with a new car
On Friday, after months of preparing for this moment, homeowner Malcolm Wentzel surprised Thembi with a brand new car.
The tearful housekeeper’s reaction was seen in a photo that has since gone viral. However, this purchase was not a spur-of-the-moment thing.

This is how Wentzel pulled it off
Wentzel had planned this for a while. A scroll down his Twitter timeline, as well as his TikTok, is all it takes to get a clue of the work it took to make the surprise work.
Think about it. Wentzel had to decide on the safest car to purchase his middle-aged housekeeper who has probably never driven a vehicle in her life.
#thembi Today thembi drove my bakkie into our house She is 100% ok and and so the bakkie…. #toyotasa is the best. Before i buy her a car she must go for driving lessons. #LandCruiser All that matters is she is ok pic.twitter.com/n0tpbh3Dto

And therein lies the problem. He had to find a way to teach Thembi how to drive and coach her on her way to getting a driver’s licence without blowing his cover.
#thembi is doing good with the driving lessons I sent her to do. WHAT CAR MUST I BUY YOU PEOPLE DECIDE…. @ToyotaSA or a @vwpolo Do you want me to buy her a car????? #Mzansi pic.twitter.com/KVGDQbjiaZ

All of this painstaking hard work was all worth it in the end, if not for Thembi’s reaction, then for the bond they built.
Whether this is a sponsored rollout in partnership with Toyota South Africa could not be confirmed.
