The ad cleverly uses a game of Jenga to illustrate the corrupt infrastructure built by the ANC under Ramaphosa’s leadership.
In the video, Maimane meticulously removes the blocks representing corruption, each tugged out with a symbolic strike against the existing state machinery.
As he removes these corrupt elements, he starts rebuilding a new structure on a solid foundation, symbolising jobs, effective crime solutions, and the eradication of the ANC’s corrupt regime.
The punchline hits hard at the end of the video.
A hand, adorned with ANC regalia, attempts to place a corruption block back into the structure.
Maimane smacks the hand away, exclaiming, “No, man, Cyril!”
In a statement accompanying the ad, BOSA emphasised their commitment to serving the people:
“This election is about positive change. Change that creates jobs. Change that educates our youth. Change that keeps our streets safe. In this election, choose change and vote to Build One South Africa with Mmusi Maimane.”
What is BOSA’s election philosophy?
BOSA, or Build One South Africa, is grounded in a philosophy centred around positive, transformative change.
Their mission is clear: to dismantle the corruption that has plagued the country and to rebuild a nation where all citizens have equal opportunities and access to resources.
The ad campaign spotlights several key points of BOSA’s vision:
- Creating Jobs: BOSA aims to develop policies that stimulate job creation and provide sustainable employment opportunities for all South Africans.
- Educating the Youth: Education is a cornerstone of their strategy, focusing on providing quality education and skills training to empower the next generation.
- Ensuring Safety: Tackling crime is a priority, with plans to enhance law enforcement and community safety initiatives.
BOSA’s guiding principles are deeply rooted in the concept of ubuntu, recognising and upholding the dignity of every South African.
They believe in a united nation where every citizen works together towards the shared goal of a prosperous, safe, and thriving South Africa.
