The trio, Karen, James, and Spence, known for their social media presence under the handle “london.2.capetown,” embarked on their epic road trip 68 days ago.

Their trip, filled with numerous challenges such as learning about local customs, dealing with a malfunctioning air conditioner, getting stuck in the mud, and facing mechanical issues, took a significant turn when their beloved 4×4 vehicle, affectionately named Edna, snapped in half on day 67.
This seemed like the end of their adventure, but Toyota South Africa intervened with an unexpected offer.
Toyota, having followed their journey online, offered the adventurers a Hilux GR-Sport to ensure they could continue their trip to Cape Town.
The offer, made via an Instagram comment, read:
“Hey Karen, James, and Spence! We’ve been loving your epic journey from London to Cape Town. Edna’s been a trooper, but we’re sad to see her struggling. To keep the adventure rolling, we’d love to send Edna’s newly launched big brother, the Hilux GR-Sport, to complete your journey to Cape Town!”
However, the travellers opted to stick with Edna, expressing their gratitude but declining the new vehicle.
They stated:
“Big thank you to @toyota_sa for offering to help out with a new car BUT we need Edna to get to Cape Town and will try our best to get her fixed!”
