Katlego Maboe returned to the screens to mark his return to the Expresso Show, two years after the cheating scandal almost ruined his life.
Key moments from Katlego Maboe’s return to ‘Expresso Show’
It was an emotional day at the Expresso Show studio on Monday, as hosts Graeme Richards, Zoë Brown and Ryle De Mony held back tears throughout the show’s segments in anticipation of welcoming an old friend back to his home away from home.
Maboe made his first official appearance back on Expresso Show since October 2020, around 15 minutes into the episode, and the teary moment will forever be etched in the memory of its fans.
“What a privilege it is to be back in your living rooms again. To be able to welcome you to a new day with an incredible team, infront of the cameras, behind the cameras. It’s been such an incredible time leading up to this day, especially with the backdrop of what was an incredibly unfortunate time, and unfortunate circumstances that forced me away from this role that I loved so much and that I know you love so much in what we do everyday in trying to bring smiles to South Afrcan faces and trying to rekindle hope every singly day,” an emotional Maboe said.
Much of Monday’s episode was an opportunity for Maboe to shed himself off the ills of his past. The presenter reflected on the hurdles he overcame on his journey back to Expresso Show and how returning to the seat he’s occupied for a decade made him realise that, in a way, the adversity he encountered these past two years was necessary to shape the man he is today.

How Maboe mapped his way back to TV
Monique Muller‘s former husband clawed his way back to Mzansi’s good graces with a victory in court over accusations of physical abuse.
Not only had Muller vehemently claimed Maboe attacked her physically, but he had also allegedly infected her with Human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection that can cause genital warts, during his tenure as a cheating husband.
These claims, tested in a court of law, were baseless and did not necessarily meet the requirements for further prosecution, and the interim protection order Muller was granted was, in effect, thrown out.
Muller still maintains her assertions about her ex-husband. Maboe, on the other hand, has regained parts of his professional life as a host and musician, but in court, he still has unfinished business, particularly with Seth Muller, Monique’s brother, with whom he has an ongoing harassment interdict.
Maboe is also pursuing legal action against Women for Change founder Sabrina Walter and Dr Janet van Eeden, the chairperson of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), “who made damaging and unfounded allegations in support of Ms Muller’s claims.”
