Jose Mourinho appointed as new AS Roma manager for next season

The Special One, Jose Mourinho, has already found a job, taking the role as Roma boss for the next campaign.

Successful yet controversial football manager, Jose Mourinho, has officially been announced as the head coach for the Italian side, AS Roma.

AS Roma: How was Jose Mourinho was brought in so quickly?

Everybody is aware of Jose Mourinho’s talents as a head coach.

According to IOL News, the Italian club have officially signed the Portuguese coach.

After Mourinho was sacked from Tottenham Hotspur, fans always knew he’d find somewhere else to coach.

However, nobody expected it to happen this quick.

This came after the news that the Italian side had decided on letting the current boss, Paulo Fonseca, leave the club after the 2020/2021 campaign.

“We are thrilled and delighted to welcome Jose Mourinho into the AS Roma family,” club president Dan Friedkin and vice-president Ryan Friedkin said.

“A great champion who has won trophies at every level, Jose will provide tremendous leadership and experience to our ambitious project.” they concluded.

Francesca had seen his side struggling in seventh place in the Serie A and suffering a 6-2 demolition from Manchester United in the Europa semi-final leg.

Mourinho has signed a three-year contract which will see him take charge at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season.

β€œAfter meetings with the ownership and (general manager) Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for AS Roma,” said the Portuguese boss.

β€œIt is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years,” he continued.

β€œThe incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season,” Mourinho added.

β€œIn the meantime, I wish Paulo Fonseca all the best and I hope the media appreciate that I will only speak further in due course. Daje Roma!” he concluded.

What does the world of football think about this announcement?

Jose isn’t the most likable coach, having a long history of what many believe is a boring style of football and his constant fallouts with his players and employers.

However, there’s a reason why he’s nicknamed ‘The Special One’ as he is capable of winning silverware.

Roma will be hoping to see Mourinho find any kind of success in the Italian league and bring Roma to the giants they once were.
