A day after securing a crucial win against Norwich City with a blistering performance that earned him a hat-trick, Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez suffered a devastating loss.
Cristiano Ronaldo confirms loss of child at birth
In a statement published on his social media accounts, Ronaldo, who was expecting a pair of twins with Rodriguez, confirmed, “our baby boy has passed away.”
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the couple wrote in a joint statement.
Only the baby girl, whose name has yet to be made public, survived and for Ronaldo and Rodriguez, her arrival “gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are an angel. We will always love you,” the statement concluded.

Who is Georgina Rodriguez?
Georgina Rodriguez is the romantic partner of Portugal’s football captain Cristiano Ronaldo. She is a Spanish native, hailing from Jaca, a small city nestled near the French border.
Before ascending to social media stardom with more than 30 million followers, Rodriguez worked as a waitress in her hometown. Her life changed drastically when she moved to Madrid and secured a position as a shop assistant at a Gucci retailer.
This is where she met Ronaldo in 2015. At the time, the iconic footballer had ended a long-term relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk.
