Big Brother Mzansi housemate Kay B has been disqualified from the reality show following allegations of sexual harassment.
Big Brother Mzansi: Kay B sent packing over sexual harassment
The decision was confirmed after an internal investigation into claims made by fellow contestant Beekay, who alleged that Kay B had physically violated him.
A statement from the show’s organisers outlined the reasoning behind the expulsion:
“In light of a conversation in the Big Brother Mzansi house concerning a housemate (Beekay) who claimed that he was physically violated by fellow housemate (Kay B), Big Brother investigated the matter further as the safety of all housemates is of utmost importance. Following investigations, Kay B has been immediately evicted from the Big Brother Mzansi house.”
Mzansi Magic reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, stating:
“Kay B’s behaviour has caused serious offence to fellow housemates, and due to this misconduct, she has been disqualified. Mzansi Magic does not condone any acts that threaten the safety and wellbeing of the housemates.”
Kay B was among the contestants nominated for eviction this week, which has now led to significant changes in the voting process.
This is not the first BB Mzansi sex scandal
Kay B’s disqualification marks the second consecutive season where a housemate has been expelled due to a sex-related controversy.
During the previous season, contestant Bravo B was removed from the house after making inappropriate comments about taking advantage of intoxicated female housemates.
In that incident, Bravo B and fellow housemate Makhekhe were caught on camera discussing plans to exploit female contestants under the influence of alcohol. Following an investigation, Big Brother issued the following statement:
“The housemate that initiated and drove the conversation (Bravo B) has been disqualified from the game, and the other housemate (Makhekhe) will face a reprimand from Big Brother with a social lesson on behaviour etiquette.”
In addition, another housemate, Yolanda Monyai, was also disqualified in Season 4 after making a comment about molesting a fellow contestant.
Due to Kay B’s sudden removal, Big Brother has confirmed that voting for this week’s eviction will be closed immediately. The showrunners said this is to ensure fairness, as Kay B was one of the nominated housemates, and removing her from the vote alters the eviction process.
