On Thursday Morning Secretary-General, Ace Magashule took the ANC to court to challenge his suspension.
According to eNCA, the High Court in Johannesburg has set down two days to hear the application.
Magashule was told to step aside by the party as he faces charges of corruption and fraud in relation to the Free State asbestos project. He said the charges laid against him, as well as the suspension, were a political attack against him.
Supporters rally behind Ace Magashule
Party members flocked outside the court to rally behind the suspended SG in his bid to challenge the suspension. When the suspended SG appeared in court for alleged corruption and fraud, they were behind him.
Supporters say that they are supporting one of its party members and that this action has nothing to do with favouring the individual but the ANC as a whole.
According to Sowetan Live, Magashule said some parliament members wanted to support him but he discouraged them because it would seem like he is using them to give rise to division within the party.
“I am not defiant. I’m talking about the rights enshrined in the Constitution, the bill of rights which I fought for. The rights which are enshrined also in the ANC constitution. You are innocent until proven otherwise. What else should I do,” Magashule said
The court case is currently in progress.
