IEB matric results are out: Here’s how they performed

Already, the Independent Examinations Board has published the matric results of the 2020 class and while a minuscule decline was seen, the independent matrics achieved a near-perfect 98.07% pass rate.

As reported by EWN, approximately 12 000 full-time and 1 100 part-time pupils sat for the independent exams. Of these, 88% achieved a bachelor’s degree, while 8% of the indie matrics achieved a diploma pass.

The resilience of the matric class of 2020 was commended by President Cyril Ramaphosa in his 2021 SONA reply. He recognised the unprecedented circumstances the pupils had to endure and congratulated every single matriculant who sat for the exams, despite doing so in the midst of a raging pandemic.

“This is a most remarkable group of learners, who were determined to learn and to study under the most difficult conditions. They must be commended for their perseverance and for their steadfast commitment to achieving their ambitions,” he said.

For the rest of the country’s matrics, their results will be published on Tuesday 23 February 2021. Here are the different ways you can check your results on the day:
